watching her grow

after such a long time coming, sophia is moving quickly these days- in just about every facet of her development. she's scooting, working on crawling, starting to go from sitting (on a stool) to standing (against a footstool), and as you can see in one of my newly posted videos, working on stairs.

speaking of videos- i've started to upload videos to youtube. i've started with the latest, and am working backwards to the first ones i took when she was only a few months old. it is INCREDIBLE to see how far she's come, how much she's grown. you can find them here http://www.youtube.com/sashalynwalterstweel and see for yourself. they are also linking to facebook, so if you're a friend there, you may have already seen them. i like having them all in one place, though. makes viewing and comparing easier, in my humble opinion. i plan to continue to post videos there in the future, so you may want to keep your eyes on the feed.

i know that typically developing kids have this kind of "learning something new every day" trajectory, but for sophia, we were caught in limbo for so long. this spurt of development and exploration has almost caught me by surprise. i've been lucky enough to meet other kids with pws and have been following along with their stories, but there was a part of me that was afraid we'd never get there- and now, here we are- hurtling forward at what feels like the speed of light.

i might mention that we did get our hands on a spio vest for sophia- and thank you again to everyone who was able to help us raise the funds to do so! we were able to raise a little over half of the cost of her equipment, and it means so much to us to have that support. i'm pretty sure that without that extra stimulation/input that sophia gets from that vest, she would not be moving ahead so quickly. i plan to write more about her sensory deficits here sometime soon, but this video project is my first priority, and i only have so much time while she sleeps. let's hope it's a long nap.

enjoy watching the growth. i know i am.
